On Monday, I was pleased to welcome a delegation from Tata Technologies at the Pump Rooms to discuss the imminent move of their European Headquarters to Leamington. The state-of-the-art premises are due to be open in April 2017 and to have their operations based in our local area adds yet another...
Today (Wednesday), I sat in the chamber of the House of Commons to hear David Cameron's final Prime Minister's Questions. Having heard him in his first appearance as Prime Minister in 2010, this was a poignant occasion, and he responded to questions with good humour and grace. I wish him and his...
Parliament is a hectic place and is particularly fast-moving with recent activity. The EU referendum result has demanded a sense of stability, and although disappointed with the result, I continue to work for the best interests of Warwick and Leamington. Last Monday, I attended the Prime...
I campaigned for the continued membership of the European Union and I share the same disappointment as many local residents who have contacted me about the result in the last few days. I would like to pay tribute to the representatives from other parties who put politics to one side and worked...
It was a pleasure to be invited to speak to the Leamington Business Forum last Friday morning at Warwickshire College, with representatives of businesses, Warwick University and the College present. In opening, I explained that I had been at the referendum count the night before and that I was...
I have been serving Warwick and Leamington as a Member of Parliament since 2010, having previously worked locally in Public Relations and at Longbridge with MG Rover. I live in Warwick and play an active role in our community, whether it be through my role as a Governor of Myton School, volunteering with a number of local charities such as Nightlight and the Warwickshire Association of Youth Clubs, or meeting as many local businesses and organisations as possible.
In Westminster, I am a member of the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee having previously served on the International Development Select Committee. I am also Chair of the Committee on Arms Export Controls. My Private Member's Bill, the Social Value Act, was passed in the last Parliament. For more information on the legislation, please see the Social Value section of this website. I also Co-Chair the Associate Parliamentary Manufacturing Group and Chair the All Party Group on Video Games, two vital sectors in our area.
The constituency of Warwick and Leamington encompasses the historic town of Warwick, Leamington Spa, Whitnash and a swathe of Warwickshire villages including Hatton, Budbrooke, Hampton Magna, Norton Lindsey, Barford, Sherbourne, Wasperton and Bishop's Tachbrook.
